The DevOps Engineer IV is responsible for automating and maintaining configurations, deployments, services, integrations, and monitoring. Additionally, they are expected to deploy applications to Kubernetes, resolving and improving custom application performance, and assisting software engineering with planned improvements and projects. The role includes extensive coordination with the application, development, and security teams. The DevOps Engineer IV is also expected to design and
implement automation to support business processes or technology. The DevOps Engineer IV position learns and maintains legacy applications while working with application development to migrate these applications to modern frameworks in cloud environments. An ability to rapidly learn new technologies and environments to ensure a superior level of customer service is a must. They are responsible for incorporating and adhering to requirements defined by technology standards.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership, including defining best practices, reviewing designs, developing technical governance, and collaborating with leadership for roadmap plans and implementations
Create, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines as well as enforcing and adjusting standards as needed
Expand, optimize, and refactor CI/CD pipelines for enhanced efficiency, security, reliability, and observability
Configure, monitor, and maintain applications, services, and environments
Create, maintain, and update Configuration as Code (CaC) (Ansible experience is a plus)
Create templates, roles and playbooks for CaC which are reused across multiple systems or environments
Create, maintain, and update Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform experience a plus)
Create modules, templates, and Policy as Code governance for IaC
Create pipelines design patterns for pipeline build and deployment of container-based applications and services
Architect, design, and build Kubernetes environment with an ArgoCD pipeline
Deploy and maintain applications into Kubernetes using Helm charts
Lead analyzation of environments, systems, and services to remediate service degradation and service outages
Lead design and resolution efforts for identified root causes of service degradation and service outages
Provide in-depth knowledge of IAM, encryption, and security policies to ensure secure practices
Apply knowledge across several Lines of Business and teams
Innovate on pipelines including build, test, and deployment stages
Create, maintain, and update documentation and deployment diagrams, including setting standards and best practices
Make improvements and innovate in the codebase to drive a secured DevOps culture
Provide guidance on custom developed application architecture
Assist technical and non-technical teams with new applications and application update rollouts
Suggest and implement improvements to existing software development processes and workflows
Promote communication, integration, and collaboration for enhanced software development productivity
Provide technical mentoring to the more junior DevOps Engineers
Ensure all changes comply with change management policies and procedures
Provide analysis of applications and services from monitoring and as well as analysis of key observability metrics

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 yrs. relevant experience
Mastery of AWS or Azure required, ideally also with experience of the other
Mastery of PowerShell, python, bash, or other scripting languages
Mastery of Configuration as Code (CaC), typically including ansible
Mastery of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), typically including terraform
Expertise with source control and git required, preferably with GitLab
Mastery of CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab Runners
Mastery of containers, such as Docker Images or Kubernetes, required
Expertise with modern multi-tier applications required
Large scale multi-site operations expertise required
Experience with operating systems administration, including Windows and Linux, required; with expertise in at least one required
Knowledge of browser-based technology required
Knowledge of networking required
Knowledge of Microsoft productivity applications required
Experience with observability and monitoring solutions required (Dynatrace experience preferred)
Experience with Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence) preferred
Experience with Agile processes and methods required
Experience with TIBCO BusinessWorks, BusinessConnect and EMS a bonus
Experience with serverless code or Function as a Service (FaaS) a plus (e.g. Azure Functions
and AWS Lambda)
Development experience with any of the listed technologies a plus (.NET, Java, C , Python)
Experience with relational databases a plus (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, Postgres, Job-Related Skills / Competencies
