Job Description

This person is responsible for supporting network communications, including maintaining, and monitoring LAN/WAN/Wireless network environment needed to provide a great end user experience. Utilizes LAN/WAN/Wireless network monitoring tools to ensure optimal system utilization, performance and system availability. Supports vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems and services vital to organization's business. Contributes to highly complex technical projects.
  • Configure, install and maintain network Switches, Routers and Security Hardware.
  • Interface with users, consultants, technical teams, and vendors to determine the top of class network hardware and software for deployment to WESCO sites
  • Support complex SDWAN/LAN/WAN networks throughout the organization.
  • Assists in maintaining WESCO's networking infrastructure to include, routers, switches, access points, VPN, and data center environments.
  • Serves as troubleshooter on Local and Wide Area Network problems.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding new technology and trends to solve corporate needs.
  • Performs installations, upgrades and support of other network hardware and software.
  • Performs and assists others with day to day operational tasks.
  • Creates and maintains technical documents for the network.
  • Provides 24/7 support of the network.
  • Continuous improvement of the overall network environment to enhance reliability, availability, and functionality.
Experience:
  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of hands on with Cisco switching, routing and wireless hardware, software and support.
  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of EIGRP, BGP, MPLS and other routing protocols.
  • 1 year required, 3 years preferred of working with cloud-based services.
  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of NEXUS 7K, 5K and 2K implementation and support.
  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of overall IT.
Education:
  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • CCNA routing and switching certification preferred.
Skills:
  • Router and switch configuration.
  • MicroSoft suite of software including Visio and Power Point.
  • Effective communications with end users and other IT staff.
  • Ability to create clear and highly accurate project and network documentation is a must.
  • Working knowledge of carrier based MPLS networks.
  • Ability to understand carrier networks and cloud based service offerings.
  • Ability to quickly analyze situations and act decisively.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends as situations require.
  • Vendor management.
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and support concepts (ITIL, BICSI, Lean).

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
