JOB TITLE: Software Engineer - Failover Automation

SALARY: £47,790 - £53,100

LOCATION(S): Halifax, Manchester

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: At least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.

About this opportunity

At DevOps Services, our focus is on enabling the business and its software engineers to develop customer product differentiation through a standardised toolchain, minimizing friction throughout the build and deployment lifecycle. This role is within our Failover Automation team, ensuring Lloyds' customers are served by resilient, highly available products, even during IT service disruptions. Typical activities you'll get involved with:
  1. Finding opportunities and delivering capabilities to support Lloyds Banking Group's innovation and resilience strategies.
  2. Prototyping new solutions as part of a small but dedicated team.
  3. Supporting development, execution of trials, and delivery within our Agile Framework.
  4. Representing Lloyds at industry events and staying updated on emerging propositions.
  5. Enhancing fintech partnerships through tooling and process improvements.
  6. Providing education and mentorship to support team upskilling.
What you'll need

A passion for technology and its application for colleagues and customers. An interest in emerging tech is beneficial. You should work collaboratively, engaging with specialists, engineers, suppliers, and partners. Adaptability, learning agility, and resilience are essential, as is a tendency to innovate and explore unproven solutions.

Skills we'd like to see:
  • Experience in at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, C ).
  • Experience with cloud solutions and databases.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, architecture, and best practices.
  • Experience with pipeline/orchestration tools like Harness.io, Jenkins, UrbanCode Deploy is desirable.
  • Passion for writing clean, maintainable, and performant code.
Additional useful experience:
  • Python, Golang, or API design experience.
