DescriptionJob Summary Under the direction of the Vice President of Development, the Engagement Specialist will recruit individual and group volunteers. Coordinate and identify opportunities related to volunteers and events for fundraising. Facilitate agency events, and lead volunteer and internship programs.
QualificationsQualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, including engagement and special events, required.
- Effective oral, written, and public speaking communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions - Recruit individual and group volunteers from corporate, school, community, and faith groups.
- Facilitate an annual calendar of volunteer and/or entry point activities and promote them in advance as appropriate.
- Routinely network with programmatic and HR staff for volunteer and intern needs, as well as required background checks. Source and screen internship candidates based on agency needs. Process selected interns through HR and connect with appropriate program supervisors. Ensure that volunteer manuals, applications, and other materials are appropriate for volunteers and internships.
- Engage Agency staff in volunteer activities where appropriate.
- Ensure that volunteers are stewarded by a member of the Development team if not personally stewarded for financial gifts.
- Coordinate and manage key relationships as assigned.
- Facilitate an annual schedule of events for agency outreach.
- Present Porter-Leath in an engaging and compelling manner to public audiences through effective communication and utilization of engaging events and volunteer opportunities.
- Liaise with United Way, Combined Federal Campaign, corporations, and other entities seeking to host Porter-Leath speakers, informational booths, or similar engagement opportunities.
- Coordinate, set up, manage, and work shifts towards successful implementation of assigned special events for the agency, with first priority on fundraising events, second priority on outreach opportunities, followed by program events. Non-fundraising events subject to availability and at the discretion of the Vice President of Development. Work collaboratively with Development team members to ensure successful events.
- Contribute to the team effort by performing related tasks and special projects as assigned.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Work in a non-smoking environment.
Special Conditions Maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record with appropriate level of insurance. Working non-traditional hours (nights and weekends) is expected from time-to-time, especially during Agency event seasons.
