Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and result-driven Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of our electricity resource portfolio. The role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and securing early-stage opportunities related to power generation, procurement, and trading-including renewable and conventional energy sources. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical capabilities with market knowledge and relationship-building skills to support our long-term growth in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new electricity generation and procurement opportunities (e.g., solar, wind, battery storage, natural gas, power purchase agreements (PPAs), or wholesale trading).
- Build and manage relationships with utilities, grid operators, regulators, and large commercial customers.
- Lead negotiations of commercial contracts, including PPAs, energy supply agreements, and joint venture partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, legal, finance) to develop competitive proposals and ensure project delivery.
- Monitor and respond to RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and other solicitation opportunities from utilities and government agencies.
- Stay up to date with electricity markets, transmission developments, environmental regulations, and incentive programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Engineering or related field; MBA or relevant master's preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, energy markets, or project development within the electricity sector.
- Strong understanding of power generation technologies, grid operations, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FERC, ISO/RTO markets).
- Knowledge of utility partners, including investor-owned / COOP / municipal utilities, and ISOs/RTOs
- Proven ability to develop business strategies and close complex deals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Experience with financial modeling and risk analysis in energy projects is a plus.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with renewable energy project development (solar, wind, battery storage).
- Experience in deregulated electricity markets (e.g., PJM, ERCOT, CAISO).
