Job Description:Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. A minimum of a High School Diploma and three years of related experience or equivalent education (in lieu of 3-year experience would possess a college-issued certificate of proficiency or higher in relevant healthcare-related course study, e.g.a COP in EMS or higher) and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the functions of the position required. State of Colorado EMT-B Certificate and competency in all BLS skills required (or a current NREMT certification that enables state certification).
Additional qualifications including a AHA BLS Instructor, Wilderness EMT Upgrade, AEMT or paramedic preferred.
Special Skills and Abilities: Ability to use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations. Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone and radio, competency in emergency communication language, protocol, and procedure. Ability to use medical equipment relevant to area(s). Ability to work effectively with staff, faculty and students as a member of the team.

The hiring pay rate is $23.79 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate's skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC's workweek. CMC's workweek is Saturday through Friday.
Position anticipated to close on March 1, 2025 or until filled.
Minimum Qualifications:Essential Duties
- Monitor equipment inventory, clean, and organize equipment.
- Assist faculty with skill demonstrations on how to properly perform EMS skills as directed by the lead instructor of the course.
- Creates an environment in the learning lab and classroom setting that supports student learning and the achievement of course objectives and program outcomes.
- Creates a positive learning environment by serving as a positive role model, demonstrating respect for students.
- Stimulates student interest and encourages student involvement.
- Assist faculty in course supplemental and supplies, including preparing equipment and course materials.
- Provides individual oversight to students for remediation of technical skills when requested by faculty or student.
- Position works within specific guidelines and directions of the Lead EMS Instructor and Direct Supervisor CTE or designated campus personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Lead EMS Instructor, direct Supervisor CTE or designated campus personnel. Position usually works within the framework of responsibilities but may require guidance at times. Seeks assistance or direction when uncertain or unfamiliar with operations or procedures, seeking input from the Lead EMS Instructor or Direct Supervisor CTE.
Supervisory Responsibility
Position has no supervisory responsibility.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check will be required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.
Some positions may require travel within the College district/service area, altered work schedules and/or evening and/or weekend hours.

Working Conditions
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
This position requires the ability to carry out duties and functions of a typical EMT in a simulation environment or in certain aspects in reality. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250 with assistance); ability to interpret written, oral and diagnostic form instructions; ability to use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations; ability to work effectively in an environment with loud noises and flashing lights; ability to function efficiently throughout an entire work shift; ability to calculate weight and volumes ratios; able to read small print; able to manage all functions under threatening time constraints and adverse conditions; ability to read and understand English language manuals and road maps; accurately discern street signs and address numbers; ability to interview patient, family members, and bystanders: ability to document, in writing, all relevant information in prescribed format in light of legal ramifications of such; ability to converse in English with coworkers and hospital staff as to status of patient. Good manual dexterity, with ability to perform all tasks related to highest quality patient care. Ability to bend, stoop, and crawl on uneven terrain; and the ability to withstand varied environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and moisture. Ability to work in low, light, confined spaces, and other dangerous environments.
Ordinary talking, hearing, and full vision capabilities; and the ability to read/comprehend. Write, communicate orally, reason and analyze constantly; and perform calculations. Use of computers and standard office equipment is expected. May be required to drive emergency vehicles including ambulances for simulation and training purposes.
