Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

A mission-driven public organization is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join its Human Resources team. This position plays a key role in supporting both union and non-union employees by resolving workplace concerns, fostering equitable practices, and contributing to an inclusive work environment. Responsibilities:

  • Support the organization's antiracism mission through fair and consistent employee relations practices
  • Investigate and resolve workplace issues with a trauma-informed and equity-centered approach
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and labor relations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of case activities and outcomes
  • Collaborate with union representatives and labor relations staff to ensure compliance with CBAs and labor regulations
  • Stay current on employment laws (FMLA, ADA, Title VII, etc.) and ensure policy alignment
  • Assist with updating handbooks, policies, and training resources
  • Track employee relations metrics and suggest data-driven improvements
  • Participate in professional development to strengthen skills in investigations, conflict resolution, and labor law

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of HR or employee relations experience (union, government, nonprofit, or public health preferred)
  • Knowledge of or interest in public health, racial equity, and social determinants of health
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills
  • Ability to apply employment laws to real-world scenarios
  • Analytical mindset with experience using data to improve practices
  • Passion for promoting an inclusive and healthy workplace
