About the Position:

We are working with a preeminent Am Law firm that has an immediate need for an employee benefits attorney (1-8+ yrs) to join the Health Benefits Practice within the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Group in Chicago. This could be an associate or non-partnership track role. The attorneys in this practice counsel employers on a variety of health and welfare programs, including assisting with the design and implementation of traditional and trending welfare benefit plans, including on-site clinics, telemedicine, and wellness programs.

Responsibilities:

Provide expert guidance on compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, ACA, No Surprises Act, mental health parity) while advising on health savings accounts, wellness programs, and cafeteria plans

Draft and review complex contracts and legal documents for benefits service providers

Monitor and analyze legal changes in ERISA health/welfare benefits and health insurance regulatory compliance, staying current on new laws, lawsuits, and regulatory guidance affecting TPAs, PBMs, and HRA vendors

Required Qualifications:

1-8 years of employee benefits experience in ERISA health and welfare employee benefits and/or health insurance or third-party administrator regulatory compliance work, preferably with a focus on service providers in the health plan industry, including PBMs, TPAs, and HRA vendors

Experience in assisting employers, TPAs, PBMs, HRA administrators, consultants, insurance companies, or other benefits service providers with matters related to health and welfare benefits plans, including HIPAA, Affordable Care Act, No Surprises Act, mental health parity, health savings accounts, wellness programs, and/or cafeteria plans

Strong research, regulatory analysis, and drafting skills

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $225,000 - $390,000.
