Adelphi is seeking a highly qualified and experienced physician to serve as the EMS Medical Director for a government entity in Woodbury, New Jersey. The candidate will be primarily responsible for medical leadership, administrative oversight, and the delivery of high-quality pre-hospital care services to the residents of the County.

Requirements:

• MD/DO

• Active New Jersey License

• BC in Emergency Medicine

• BlS/ACLS

• DEA License

• Minimum of 5 years experience as an emergency department physician with documented expertise in EMS medical direction for BLS and ALS systems.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical leadership for the emergency medical services (EMS) program, advising on patient care and medical practices.

• Direct the clinical management of patients and ensure adherence to statewide EMS protocols.

• Develop, review, and update medical policies, procedures, and protocols based on evidence-based practices.

• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including retrospective and prospective reviews.

• Oversee EMS continuing education programs and ensure compliance with licensing requirements.

• Conduct at least 6 hours per week of field observation, providing direct oversight to EMS staff during patient care.

• Review patient care charts weekly to ensure compliance with clinical standards.

• Guide EMS teams on the stocking, storage, and use of medical supplies and drugs, ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Perform medical audits of patient care and participate in EMS quality improvement planning.

• Collaborate with receiving hospitals to integrate EMS with hospital quality improvement programs.

• Attend bi-weekly administrative and clinical meetings with EMS leadership.

• Provide written clinical guidance, including bi-weekly communications or newsletters to staff.

• Respond to significant incidents, including mass casualty and hazardous material events, to provide direct medical oversight.

• Consult on the acquisition and evaluation of pre-hospital medical equipment.

• Provide training and education for EMS staff to meet regulatory and operational requirements.

• Counsel and remediate EMS staff when clinical performance falls below standards.

• Serve as a liaison to the broader medical community and stakeholders to enhance EMS system operations.
