About the Department:
Mercy Hospital South Emergency Department is known for its exceptional teamwork and abundant learning opportunities. Our ED includes triage, behavioral health, and super track areas. We are a Level 2 Trauma Center, Level 1 Stroke and STEMI center, with Comprehensive Stroke Certification. We treat all patients, from adults to pediatrics, and handle cases ranging from low acuity to critical care.

Upcoming Expansion: Construction has begun to nearly double the size of our Emergency Department. We are expanding from 61 to 73 beds, including six larger trauma bays and a dedicated 13-bed behavioral health area. The new ICU-like layout will enhance patient care with smaller room pods and improved nurse visibility. The waiting area will also be expanded for greater comfort. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027, increasing the ED's size to over 65,000 square feet from the current 39,000 square feet.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current Missouri RN license and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
