Title: Software Dev Engineer II (Embedded Software Engineer)

Location: North Reading, MA

Duration: 12 Months (With Possibility of Extension/Conversion)

Pay range: $45 - $50/Hr

Job Description:

Why is this open:
  • The team is developing a prototype for a new machine-an automated box cutter. This machine will streamline the packaging and sorting process by automatically cutting open boxes as they move down the conveyor belt, eliminating the need for technicians to do so manually.
Mission:
  • Design, develop, and integrate the software that will control this prototype. The machine currently operates manually, and the team needs to add software to enable full automation.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Designing and integrating the Automated Box Cutter software from scratch, including machine-to-cloud communication.
  • Writing and executing code using Java.
  • Managing infrastructure and creating components within AWS.
  • Ensuring proper data storage and retrieval using DynamoDB and other databases.
  • Reviewing design documents and translating requirements from teammates or stakeholders into functional solutions.
  • Collaborating with the hardware team to integrate and test software with the machine.
Technical Skills:
  • Java (3-5+ years of experience).
  • Candidates with more experience must have recent hands-on coding experience.
  • AWS CDK
  • DynamoDB
  • Experience with hardware and software integration.
  • Background in embedded software development, ideally from scratch or with minimal guidance.
Leadership Principles:
