PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a skilled Embedded S/W Engineer to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader in Orlando, FL. This is an initial 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with expertise in developing and maintaining real-time embedded software applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in C development (version 11 or higher), object-oriented principles, complex problem-solving using data structures and algorithms, and a deep understanding of operating system concepts. This role involves working throughout the entire software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, coding, integration, and testing.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain real-time embedded software applications related to:
- Image processing, target detection and tracking, and missile guidance/navigation/control algorithms.
- Missile launchers, system control, built-in test systems, and system communication.
- Develop software using C in Linux-based environments, as well as real-time operating systems like VxWorks or Integrity.
- Apply object-oriented design principles and ensure code quality through modern testing tools, unit testing, and static analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and system performance.
- Configure and manage continuous testing environments and use source code control and issue tracking tools.
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in areas relevant to Lockheed Martin products.
Requirements: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- US Citizenship
- 11+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on C application development (not just exposure).
- Expertise in object-oriented programming principles.
- Proficiency in solving complex problems using data structures and algorithms.
- Deep understanding of operating system concepts.
- Experience with source code control and issue tracking tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Interim Secret Clearance required to start.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Desired: - Experience with communication protocols such as RS-232, RS-422, MIL-STD-1553, and Ethernet.
- Active Secret Clearance preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience in Cyber Security and Department of Defense (DoD) products.
- Knowledge of board support package and device driver development.
- Ability to configure and manage continuous integration environments.
