The inpatient pharmacy department is comprised of pharmacists and technicians working collaboratively to provide safe, timely and effective medication therapy to our patients. We operate a decentralized model for both medication distribution utilizing Omnicell automation, as well as clinically with pharmacists dedicated to the teams on our nursing units. About The Job & Oncology Pharmacy

The Pharmacist Supervisor Clinical Oncology is responsible for overseeing pharmacy clinical services and infusion operations at the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at Elliot Hospital. The incumbent will lead and support a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensuring their ability to effectively deliver pharmacy services. The Pharmacist Supervisor Clinical Oncology will also work collaboratively with oncology providers, nursing staff, department leaders and other health care team members to promote clinical program growth, enhancing the ability to provide optimal patient care. This position will have a staffing component based on the needs of the department and will have both pharmacist and technician staff reporting directly to them.


What You'll Do

Oversee safe compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, minimizing drug waste, minimizing unnecessary exposure to hazardous drugs, and managing costs for cancer drugs.

Perform medication treatment teaches with patients to outline expectations of drug therapy including adverse effect management.

Optimize medication therapy in accordance with established collaborative practice agreements and recommendations based on current clinical guidelines.

Work collaboratively with Solinsky Center leaders and other health care professionals to develop guidelines, operational standards and make evidence-based decisions designed to improve patient care.

Lead implementation of new clinical programs including collaborative practice agreements and patient counseling which promote pharmacists working to the top of their license.

Participate on committees to improve the safety, efficacy, and quality of cancer care and are heavily relied upon to develop policies and implement programs to ensure safety of staff and patients during the receipt, preparation, administration, and monitoring of anticancer agents.

Build and maintain oncology and research regimen therapy plans in collaboration with EPIC Beacon Team which conform to current oncology professional guidelines.

Serve as PGY-1 oncology pharmacy preceptor within direction of the Residency Program Director. Maintain all necessary preceptor requirements in accordance with American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accreditation. Coordinate other pharmacy learning experiences as necessary (ie. APPE, IPPE).

Support the inpatient team regarding clinical oncology questions, along with preparation of medication therapy for inpatients and applicable outpatient infusion center patients (ex. Inpatient chemo, bladder instillation therapies).

Under the direction of their manager, responsible for hiring, on-boarding, coaching and annual review of the pharmacists and technicians working in the cancer center pharmacy, excluding inpatient pharmacy staff who are cross-trained to cover in cancer center.


What You'll Need

PharmD or BS Pharm from an accredited college of pharmacy required. Additional graduate degree in business or healthcare preferred.

Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Cert (BCOP) OR Successful completion of a PGY-2 Residency specializing in oncology required.

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a clinical oncology pharmacist required. A minimum of 5 years as a clinical oncology pharmacist with formal leadership experience and residency precepting preferred.
