Job Description:

The successful applicant will join a small team within our Electronics department, working on a variety of projects to support and maintain multiple engineering programmes simultaneously. Their role will involve designing wiring harnesses and on-engine automotive electrical assemblies, selecting sensors and actuators, diagnosing faults, and developing prototype engine electrical systems

The Role:

  • Generate wiring schematics, 2D physical assembly drawings and 3D harness models.
  • Generate schematics and drawings of electrical sub-assemblies.
  • Generate, update and maintain, BOMs process documentation, build instructions and test procedures for all engine electrical assemblies.
  • Hands on fault diagnosis and development of prototype engine electrical systems.
  • Liaison with relevant project engineers to ensure engine and chassis wiring, sensor and actuator installations are correctly detailed and manufactured.
  • Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping.
  • Ensure conformity to standards, production techniques and conformance to Cosworth's Quality Management and fault reporting System.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company's compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
  • Undertake any other duties or activities reasonably requested to meet departmental or company goals.

Candidate Profile:

  • Must have automotive / motorsport or Military wiring harness design experience.
  • Must be conversant with wiring harness assembly to Motorsport or military specifications, the use of Auto-Sport or equivalent connectors and Raychem system 25 products is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Siemens NX is desirable.
  • Conversant with a variety of diagnostic tools and instrumentation to support engine electrical system development.
  • Qualified to at least HNC/HND level in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Fully conversant with automotive and motorsport electrical installation requirements and able to work closely with others to achieve results efficiently.
  • Highly motivated team player with a positive attitude and have a professional presence.
  • A professional demeanour with good interpersonal skills and high levels of integrity.
  • Confident clear communication, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to balance working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Experienced in the inspection, testing and fault rectification of wiring harnesses.
  • Good working knowledge of automotive sensors and actuators to include testing and fault finding of a wide range of components to include pressure & temperature sensors, fuel injectors, ignition coils, position, and speed sensors etc.
  • This position will require a flexible approach and must be prepared to work to tight deadlines which could require working unsociable hours at short notice.
