Electrical Technician

Job Purpose

Perform specialized electrical technician duties on railroad signals where work duties follow established standards, specifications and instructions. Work under the general direction of a supervisor, with assistance only as needed to handle unusual situations. Work duties involve a definite degree of skill, accuracy and coordination.

Key Job Elements

• Wire Railroad crossing bungalows;

• Assemble gate flashers;

• Wire gate mechanisms;

• Layout, installation, and wiring of electrical equipment in signal bungalows per engineered circuit plans;

• Read and interpret circuit plans, blueprints, and wiring schematics;

• Use of various hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, cutters, cordless drill, saws, etc.

Education / Training

• High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications and Experience

• Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical circuits is a plus;

• Ability to read a tape measure;

• Strong attention to detail is a must.
