Our client is a major refinery nationwide servicing the fuel transportation and aviation fuel needs of the Western United States. It operates an integrated network of strategic assets that creates and sells refined petroleum products, from feedstock acquisition to wholesale, commercial, and retail sales outlets. They are currently looking for an Electrical Maintenance Planner in Carson, CA.
ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE PLANNER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Maintenance Planner is responsible for the development of electrical equipment maintenance work packages in accordance with established processes. Develops detailed work scope plans, prepares cost and man-hour estimates, and requisitions materials. Identifies and implements continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities. Coordinates with engineering and maintenance supervisors to develop complex job plans including necessary materials and documentation. Works with operations and maintenance to manage work order backlog.
The work schedule for this role is Monday to Thursday 6 AM - 4:30 PM. Routine Maintenance Planners rotate weekly on-call responsibilities and are on-call for one week approximately every three months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Converts approved (SAP)notifications into work orders following the established work process. Plans sequential operational steps from start to finish with estimated labor hours and duration of activities. Identifies and requisitions resources, materials, and additional services. Performs field assessments to gather planning details and validate all requirements.
- Reviews work plan and process with appropriate personnel. Verifies work instructions comply with established procedures and standards at both refinery and corporate level.
- Creates work order packages containing detailed instructions for electricians to perform work. Ensures work orders have been thoroughly planned before issuance for scheduling and contain the necessary safety plans, drawings, schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), safety data sheets (SDS), material list, safe work permit requirements, etc. Ensures materials and resources are available when job is scheduled to commence.
- Works with engineers to develop appropriate work plans where appropriate.
- Effectively manages planning backlog.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience as an Electrician in a refinery, petro-chemical or similar industry.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft: Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- Must have clean and valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous maintenance planning experience
- Previous SAP experience
- Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera Scheduling experience
- Supervisor experience
- U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship. TN Visas are acceptable
- No relocation is offered for this position.
