Job Summary:
Under direct collaboration with engineering professionals, project leaders, and technical teams, the Electrical Engineering Associate provides professional-level technical support . This role applies electrical engineering and broad scientific knowledge to plan, coordinate, and execute project tasks from design through implementation.
The Associate collaboratively interprets technical requirements, develops and integrates electrical systems, drafts and reviews schematics and documentation, and provides guidance to trades and multidisciplinary teams. The position also involves coordinating materials procurement and installations, and ensuring project alignment with safety and compliance standards.
This is a 12 month contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support cross-functional project teams to execute electrical engineering scopes of work.
- Interpret, and revise electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Coordinate installation planning, material procurement, and task scheduling with trades and vendors.
- Create clear and detailed work instructions and drawings using AutoCAD and related tools.
- Identify and resolve design issues through collaboration with the lead engineers and trade workers.
- Ensure adherence to Lab safety protocols, engineering standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a liaison between engineering, scientific, and facilities teams, facilitating clear communication across disciplines.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project workflows and documentation practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated experience coordination of cross-functional projects.
- Adept documentation management skills
- Experience in electrical systems and engineering best practices
- Knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (electrical engineering); significant relevant experience required.
Preferred Experience with:
- Installing complex electrical systems
- LOTO & electrical safety
- Troubleshooting control systems
- JIRA (or similar project/task-tracking tool)
- Electrical drawing tools (e.g., AutoCAD / Bluebeam)
Work Characteristics:
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion in addressing technical challenges.
- Operates under direct guidance with supervision; work is reviewed based on outcomes and project objectives.
- Experienced in supporting major project phases from concept through completion.

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated support multi-phase engineering projects, particularly within scientific or highly technical environments (e.g., national labs, accelerators, or large research facilities).
- Experience with preparing technical documentation, work instructions, and as-built drawings.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
