Job Description

Sigray, Inc. has an immediate need for a Controls / EE Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-growth environment with a lot of challenging design work. We are looking for a mechanical design engineer to support our team in building state-of-the-art X-ray microscopes used by some of the most prominent scientists in the world.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Determining electrical components used in the products
  • Troubleshooting problems with electrical components and mentoring team members on how to do this
  • Synthesize and develop electrical design documentation
  • Design and develop electrical control systems, such as the PDUs and interlocks
  • Oversee EE and controls engineers

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
  • Familiarity with complex mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with motion control systems
  • Preferred experience with semiconductor systems

  • Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines and set priorities according to current demands
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and oversight
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a team environment
  • Excellent analysis skills, both data analysis and critical thinking

About Sigray

Sigray is a rapidly growing startup based in Concord, CA, that manufactures X-ray sources, optics, and systems. The X-ray systems include X-ray spectroscopy, microfluorescence, and nano- and micro- computed tomography, as well as several unreleased instruments under active development. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of instrumentation design and programming of motion control systems.


The company was started by Dr. Wenbing Yun, who previously founded Xradia, a world leading x-ray microscopy company that was later successfully acquired by Carl Zeiss as its x-ray microscopy unit. Sigray is well-funded by government grants and has customers from around the world.
