Electrical Engineer - Help Build the Future of Scalable Spacecraft Platforms

Opportunity Summary

A venture-backed startup on the cutting edge of aerospace innovation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a focus on spacecraft power systems. With active contracts across both government and commercial sectors, this early-stage team is solving critical problems in spacecraft design and deployment. This is your chance to join a small, high-impact engineering team that's reimagining how spacecraft are powered, controlled, and scaled. You'll be a key contributor in the design and testing of next-gen power systems for use in orbit-spanning solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution systems-all optimized for the harsh realities of the space environment.

About Us

We're building a new class of spacecraft designed to scale with the growing demand for orbital infrastructure. Our modular bus platform introduces an innovative approach to spacecraft control and power management that significantly reduces size, cost, and mechanical complexity. With patented control systems and a compact architecture tailored for high-volume deployment, we're positioned to redefine how satellite constellations are designed, built, and launched.

Job Duties

  • Lead the development and testing of spacecraft power systems including solar arrays, battery modules, and power distribution units.
  • Create and validate circuit designs with an emphasis on efficiency, robustness, and reliability under radiation and thermal cycling constraints.
  • Support spacecraft assembly, integration, and test (AIT) activities with a focus on troubleshooting and verifying electrical subsystem performance.
  • Simulate and analyze circuits using tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and other industry-standard platforms.
  • Implement and optimize maximum Powerpoint tracking (MPPT) algorithms and manage energy storage strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, mechanical, and flight software teams to ensure seamless integration of power components.
  • Apply industry best practices for space-grade environmental testing and hardware qualification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience working with power system design, particularly involving solar energy systems, batteries, and power electronics.
  • Solid understanding of spacecraft power architecture and exposure to environmental design constraints such as radiation effects and thermal cycling.
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout using tools like SPICE, Altium Designer, or equivalent.
  • Strong grasp of energy storage technologies and dynamic power distribution in small satellite systems.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware validation and environmental qualification testing.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with low-mass, high-efficiency electrical subsystems for small spacecraft.
  • Familiarity with modular bus architecture and scalable satellite platforms.
  • Knowledge of jitter reduction techniques and spacecraft attitude control systems.
  • Comfort working in startup environments where roles can be dynamic and high ownership is expected.
  • Prior involvement in government or dual-use technology projects is a plus.

Security Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain US Secret clearance.

Why Join Us?

  • Help shape a next-generation space platform from the ground up
  • Get in early at a pre-seed startup with significant government and commercial traction
  • Opportunity for rapid growth and expanded responsibilities
  • Work closely with a highly technical founding team
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Equity participation with early-stage upside potential
