Electrical Engineer

Mossville, Illinois, United States(Onsite)

Contract

This role is for a power engineer with responsibilities that include validation work, design work, and PCB board layout. The engineer will be involved in tasks such as testing power levels, reconfiguring DC power supplies, and ensuring proper setup and execution of test plans.

Initially, the engineer will focus on validation tasks to get familiar with the system. This includes working with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, and analyzers. Over time, the role will transition to more advanced work, including creating test plans and design activities.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5-6 years of experience, but up to 10 years is preferred. The focus is on hands-on experience with prototyping, understanding of DC-DC converters, and compliance with standards and EMC testing.

  • Strong Understanding of DC-DC Converters: A solid grasp of how DC-DC converters work, including their design and functionality, is essential
  • Hands-on experience with converter/inverter prototyping, test benches, and debugging
  • Compliance and EMC Testing: Experience with standards and compliance, particularly in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, is a plus
  • Circuit Design and PCD Board Layout: Potential for design work, including circuit design and printed circuit board (PCD) layout, is part of the role

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in power electronics testing and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with converter/inverter prototyping, test benches, and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters, magnetics, and control algorithms.
  • Proficiency in using lab instruments and data acquisition tools.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspice.
  • Experience with standards and compliance (UL, IEC, ISO) for power electronics systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated test systems.
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC testing, thermal design, and environmental validation.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based converter control.
