About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Research and Development Engineering team. As an Electrical Engineer at Eriez, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing and successfully implementing electro-magnetic machine products from concept to release. You will work closely with our team of engineers and designers through each phase of the product design and development program.
Responsibilities: - Define the research and development steps required to successfully take an idea from concept to product release, including defining and maintaining precise resource requirements to complete projects
- Perform electro-magnetic machine design analysis with proper engineering calculations. Design and conduct lab test programs for new prototype products
- Create control schematics using AutoCAD, adhering to design codes and regulations. Generate production ready drawings as required with proper techniques. Adhere to all national and/or international design codes and regulations
- Evaluate equipment performance and provide solutions in lab, production, and field environments
- Evaluate product lines for third party certification (UL, CSA, CE), determine the scope of the project, identify issues, and provide solutions
- Develop documentation for use by engineering, sales, manufacturing, third party testing laboratories, suppliers, and customers
- Supervise technical staff on relevant R&D projects
- Present project progress reports to R&D and corporate management
- Travel occasionally to manufacturing facilities and field installations for equipment evaluation
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent engineering field
- 6+ years minimum experience in design, analysis, and project management of electromagnetic controls and machines
- Ability to define research and development steps from concept to product release
- Knowledge of electrical machine design, including suspended electro-magnets and power electronics
- Experience with electrical/magnetic equipment control design
- Experience with PLC (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI programming
- Ability to work independently on projects, define accurate resource requirements and timeframes, and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
- Demonstrated ability in creativity and ingenuity for cost-effective engineering solutions
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to assist engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customers
