Position Summary Electrical Drafter I - Responsible for creating and revising electrical/electronic design drawings of low to medium complexity. This includes understanding and entering associated drawing metadata. Work is performed through a variety of technical computer applications.
Electrical Drafter II - Responsible for creating and revising electrical/electronic design drawings of medium to high complexity. The position is also responsible for designing lower difficulty control plans. This includes understanding and entering associated metadata. Work is performed through a variety of technical computer applications.
Education, Training and Experience Electrical Drafter I - Associate degree in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology
OR post high school education or similar military training in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology with one (1) year of experience in a drafting/design environment and/or application of electrical theory and principles
OR high school diploma/GED with three (3) years of electromechanical or electrical experience in the drafting/design environment. Basic AutoCAD knowledge and experience preferred.
Electrical Drafter II - Associate degree in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology with two (2) years' experience in a drafting/design environment
OR post high school education or similar military training in electromechanical, electrical or a related technology with three (3) years of experience in a drafting/design environment and/or application of electrical theory and principles
OR high school diploma/GED with four (4) years of electromechanical or electrical experience in the drafting/design environment. Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD knowledge with a minimum of 2 years' experience preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications May require badging for CNS. May require NERC access.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Electrical Drafter I Create and revise drawings utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) applications (AutoCAD), personal computers, engravers and plotters. Comprehend technical mark-ups, engineering data, and a variety of computer application requirements. Accurately apply designs to standard drawing layouts and metadata to computer applications.
Research drawing information, vendor and material resources within and outside NPPD to acquire accurate drawing information. Obtain and record facility information through facility inspections. Ensure drawings accurately reflect facility infrastructure. Assist the Drafting Structural/Civil Group upon request.
Provide support for CAD System Technical Analyst as needed.
Electrical Drafter II Create and revise drawings including but not limited to T&D, GGS, Sheldon, Telecom, Exhibits, Switch Maps, Nameplates, SOC Signs, District Signs, Etc. utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) applications (AutoCAD), personal computers, engravers and plotters. Comprehend technical mark-ups, engineering data, and a variety of computer application requirements. Accurately apply designs to standard drawing layouts and metadata to computer applications. Increased complexity level of drawing creation requiring minimal oversite and guidance while achieving a high level of customer satisfaction. Assist in the training of other employees.
Independently research drawing information, vendor, and material resources within and outside NPPD to acquire accurate drawing information. Independently obtain and record facility information through facility inspections while ensuring drawings accurately reflect facility infrastructure. Assist the Drafting Structural/Civil Group upon request.
Provide support for CAD System Technical Analyst as needed.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
Electrical Drafter I - Pay Grade - 9 Monthly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $4,455.00 - $5,569.00
Electrical Drafter II - Pay Grade - 10 Monthly
Typica Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $4,983.00 - $6,229.00
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)

Retirement Savings NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options - a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee's hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
