Overview:
Sugar Land, Texas: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our team in support of engineering projects in a variety of industrial sectors. With over 40 years of industry presence, our client is a Gulf South leader in specialty engineering services, delivering solutions across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Telecommunications, and Power Engineering markets.
Essential Duties:
• Create electrical installation details, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, area classification drawings, and grounding plans.
• Size and specify electrical equipment including raceways, fittings, panels, conductors, and terminations.
• Conduct site walkdowns to gather necessary field data for design work.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and drafters to produce complete drawing packages for electrical installations.
• Provide occasional support for factory and site acceptance testing.
• Support commissioning and/or troubleshooting of electrical systems in the field as needed.
• Interpret and apply NEC and other relevant electrical codes and standards.
• Use 2D or 3D computer-aided design software (e.g., AutoCAD) to develop detailed electrical design drawings.
Requirements/Skills:
• 7+ years of progressive experience as an Electrical Designer.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms.
• Strong understanding of NEC and electrical design standards.
• Ability to collect and interpret field data effectively.
• Practical field experience with medium- and low-voltage electrical systems is a plus.
• Experience as an electrical technician (manufacturer, plant, or contractor background) is a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform site walkdowns in various industrial environments.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
