Akkodis is seeking an Industrial Electrical Hardware Designer with a client located in Rochester NY. Must hold a Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering to be considered. Will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems and components for industrial material handling equipment and control systems. This includes schematic design, component selection, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.


Pay/Salary Range $55hr-65hr


Industrial Electrical Hardware Designer responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop electrical hardware systems for industrial applications, including control panels, PLC systems, HMIs, and motor control systems.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Select and specify electrical components, such as circuit breakers, relays, sensors, and connectors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compatibility.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and manufacturing to ensure integration of electrical systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support all safety processes and standards related to hardware design.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., UL, IEC, NEC, NFPA 79, CE, etc.).
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Generate and maintain accurate BOMs, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product performance and manufacturability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering is required.
  • Minimum Five years related experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical 2023 is required
  • Possess the ability to properly size control transformers, power supplies, branch circuit protection, fuses, circuit breakers, and wire sizes.
  • Solid understanding of industrial control systems, safety circuits, and power distribution.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and design standards (UL508A, NFPA 70E, ISO 13849, etc.).
