Electrical Design Engineer - F/A-18 Lab Support
Location: 100% Onsite Hazelwood, MO
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship + Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (required before start) Overview
We are seeking a mid-to-senior level Electrical Design Engineer to join the Flight Simulation Labs team supporting U.S. Navy Operational Training Centers (OTCs) for the F/A-18 program. This hands-on, lab-based role involves the design, integration, and lifecycle management of electrical hardware within simulation environments.
In addition to strong technical capabilities, we're seeking someone who can bring a fresh perspective and help navigate and evolve team culture, working effectively alongside highly experienced (and at times, change-resistant) peers. Key Responsibilities
• Design and support electrical systems and COTS component integration for simulation benches (OTCs)
• Execute the full product lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, test procedures, implementation, and maintenance
• Work with PC cards, resistors, transistors, cockpit hardware, and other simulation system components (Note: no circuit-level design)
• Maintain lab hardware inventory and manage spare parts
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (hardware, software, systems)
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with design requirements
• Influence lab operations and team culture to promote collaboration and innovation About the Team
You will join a team supporting F-15, F-18, and T-7A platforms. This role focuses on the F/A-18 OTC effort for the U.S. Navy. The team includes both employees and contractors, working to modernize its approach to collaboration and engineering workflows. Basic Qualifications (Required)
• U.S. Citizenship
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance prior to start
• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Chemistry
• 5+ years of relevant work experience (or equivalent: Master's + 3 years or PhD) Preferred Qualifications
• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience with: Avionics, electrical systems, or mission system integration Lab-based or simulation environments Agile development practices and tools like JIRA Project management and cross-functional team leadership Why You Should Apply
