What to Expect

Our client is seeking a Technician to support engineering development for cell manufacturing automation equipment, including development, installation, commissioning, and retrofitting. The role involves working closely with engineering teams (mechanical, software, process, and electrical) to address challenging automation equipment issues. Hands-on experience with vision systems is a plus. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in computer/PLC and industrial automation/machinery systems, especially with distributed controllers using Field BUS; knowledge of EtherCat, profinet is preferred. The candidate should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be familiar with electrical instruments such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, as well as mechanical tools to assist in diagnosing and repairing equipment.

The candidate must be able to handle multitasking in a fast-paced environment with aggressive schedules and timelines. The automation equipment will be installed, commissioned, and operated at Tesla facilities located in Austin, TX.

DAY TO DAY
  • Strong electrical control troubleshooting skills and ability to read electrical schematics proficiently.
  • Familiar with High Voltage - 480V Power Distribution Panels.
  • Familiar with Digital/Analog I/O and safety interlock systems.
  • Familiar with VFD and Servo Drive systems.
  • Beckhoff and Siemens PLC experience, with the ability to make PLC code changes based on Engineer instructions.
  • Capable of editing schematics using ePlan P8 Electrical CAD.
  • Understand basic cell quality issues and assist in determining if they can be inspected automatically using vision systems (after hands-on training).
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to determine optimal locations for hardware installation.
  • Install line-side equipment, including cameras and computer hardware.
  • Experience with wiring, networking, and operating computer programs within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of performing basic mechanical assembly tasks, such as bolting brackets, covers, and using basic hand tools.
  • Support engineers by providing direct feedback on how systems are functioning on the production line.
  • Monitor alerts, analyze available data to identify failures, and determine how to quickly fix them.
  • Collaborate with quality engineers to communicate system failure periods.
Compensation:

$40/hr to $40/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
