Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician

About the Role
As the E&I Technician, you'll handle installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the mill's electrical and instrumentation systems. From motors and drives to sensors and PLCs, your work ensures the entire facility-production, maintenance, and converting-stays powered, safe, and efficient.
What You'll Do:
Electrical Systems Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair motors, MCCs, transformers, drives, and switchgear
- Work with medium- and low-voltage power systems
- Ensure plant lighting, wiring, and electrical panels meet NEC and safety codes
Instrumentation & Controls
- Calibrate and maintain process instruments (flow, pressure, temperature, level)
- Diagnose and program PLC and DCS systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)
- Tune control loops and support automation reliability
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Perform PMs and PdMs using vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and CMMS software
- Assist with major shutdowns, upgrades, and equipment overhauls
Support for Converting Equipment
- Repair and adjust electrical controls on slitters, rewinders, embossers, and packaging systems
- Troubleshoot servo motors, sensors, and PLC integrations for converting machinery
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards
- Conduct arc flash assessments and ensure LOTO compliance
- Keep accurate records of electrical schematics and maintenance logs
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of hands-on E&I experience in a pulp/paper mill or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and industrial automation
- Skilled in working with 480V, LV, and MV systems
- Able to read schematics and perform loop tuning and instrumentation calibration
- Journeyman certification preferred; associate degree or tech training is a plus
- Union experience a bonus
