Description The Mission Solutions Business Area at Leidos is seeking a talented Electric Power Systems Engineer. Our team focuses on the challenging and critical area of reverse engineering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) related facilities. We are looking for a creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to solving complex problems where information may be limited. You will join a dynamic interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel, engaging in a high-energy environment within a government facility in Reston, Virginia.
Role and Responsibilities: - Integrate intelligence, geotechnical, and topographical data with engineering principles to accurately characterize WMD facility function and physical configuration.
- Offer expert engineering judgment throughout the characterization process to derive precise intelligence estimates.
- Prepare and deliver briefings to senior officials on capabilities, trends, and analytical findings.
- Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills while interacting effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior officials.
Requirements and Qualifications: - Must be a US citizen.
- Active TS/SCI clearance, or a Top Secret clearance with a current SSBI, and eligibility for a TS/SCI with polygraph.
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 4+ years of experience, or MS with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Doctorate in a technical domain.
- Experience in electric power systems planning, engineering, and design with a focus on substation and power distribution.
- Familiarity with reading digital and hard copy design documents and applicable codes.
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of mechanical and life-safety systems in commercial, government, or industrial environments.
- Experience in specifying and ordering major power equipment.
- Background in designing emergency power systems, including generators and UPS.
- Knowledge of Smart Grid technology and energy management systems.
- Familiarity with substation protective systems design.
- Experience with modeling and simulation of electrical distribution and SCADA control systems.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Experience in facility planning.
- Military or defense-related background is a plus.
