Position Overview:
- EHS Manager
- St. Louis Metorpolitan Area
Lead and manage the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program for the facility. Supervise the HSE Coordinator and contract personnel, providing hands-on support for Operations and Maintenance. Act as an HSE expert to guide local decision-making and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- HSE Expertise: Serve as the onsite HSE authority, managing safety processes, obtaining and maintaining environmental permits, and ensuring compliance with regulations and corporate standards.
- Training & Compliance: Conduct EHS training, stay updated on regulatory requirements, and manage EHS projects such as site remediation and waste minimization.
- Incident Management: Investigate accidents and spills, maintain emergency and spill plans, and negotiate with regulatory agencies as needed.
- Safety Leadership: Promote a safe work environment, oversee HSE programs (Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Environmental Operations, Fire Protection, Transportation, Training), and lead site-specific safety processes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to HSE policies and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA/TCEQ), audit plant processes, and report incidents immediately.
- Community & Regulatory Relations: Act as the primary HSE contact for community and regulatory relations, and liaise between HR and Operations for Worker's Compensation and Return-to-Work programs.
- Environmental Control: Manage environmental control processes and equipment, provide technical HSE expertise, and conduct field work related to HSE process management and compliance.
- Documentation & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and manage HSE compliance documents, and report to corporate functions and regulatory organizations as required.
- Quality Support: Assist the Quality function in managing hazardous materials and laboratory environmental control equipment and processes.
- Training Management: Identify and deliver HSE training needs, manage the HSE CBT training curriculum, and monitor site performance and compliance with training expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA/TCEQ).
- Proven experience in incident investigation and management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Proficiency in HSE software and tools.
- Certification in HSE (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
