ED Overview:
The Emergency Department at GW Hospital is a high volume 52 Bed Emergency Department - Level I Trauma Center providing emergency care to over 80,000 patients annually. The department includes more than 50 treatment bays, trauma resuscitation rooms, psychiatric care suites, and fast-track areas. The ED works in collaboration with trauma surgery, cardiology, neurology, and critical care to ensure timely intervention and exceptional outcomes for adult and pediatric patients in crisis. As a regional leader in emergency medicine, the department also plays a key role in academic training and emergency preparedness.
Job Summary:
The ED Director is responsible for the strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership of the Emergency Department. This includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring quality outcomes, managing financial performance, and leading a multidisciplinary team in a Level I Trauma environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Emergency Department, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to coordinate patient care and improve service delivery.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the ED, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional development, and staff engagement.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to support the hospital's mission and goals.

Qualifications - BSN reeuired;l mSN preferred
- Active RN License in DC or endorsing eligible
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency department management or a similar role.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- CEN, NE-BC, or NEA-BC certification preferred
- Experience managing a Level I Trauma Center ED preferred
