Career Support SpecialistTallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025 , is excited to announce a full-time opening for the position of Career Support Specialist- P07194 in the Eagle Connections Program. What You'll Do
This position is a grant funded position through the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities (FSCUA) at the University of Central Florida and reports to the Eagle Connections Program Coordinator. The Career Support Specialist provides direct instruction and support to students with intellectual disabilities; networks with campus departments and community partners and businesses; and collaborates to create a smooth and successful transition to internships and employment based on student interests and needs. The specialist is a member of a collaborative team of Eagle Connections staff, Student Services staff, Career Services staff, faculty, and campus and community partners.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Teaches soft and hard skills workshops to groups and individual students.
Meets regularly with students and assessing their skills, interests, and progress.
Understands, collaborates with, and connects to available services and support (VR, ADP, etc.)
Finds and secures on and/or off campus student internships in partnership with TSC Career Services. Finds and secures employment placements and provides customized or supported employment as needed.
Conducts site visits on and off campus.
Works with supervisors/employers to provide safe and productive work opportunities for the students and fosters positive working relationships in the community.
Builds and maintains positive working relationships and bridges to employment.
As outlined in the FCSUA grant requirements and goals, the Career Support Specialist must maintain accurate and complete records for student assessments, evaluation, and employment data collection. Other duties assigned include programmatic support.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in a related field such as special education, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, rehabilitation or career counseling, etc. and relevant experience of at least one year job coaching, student advising, social services, and/or mentoring students.
Applicants must have a valid driver's license and must pass the College's criminal background screening for employment.
Certificates in Employment Services such as Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor are preferred.
