DSHS WSH Registered Nurse 3 - Clinical Risk Management Western State Hospital (WSH) is seeking a Clinical Risk Registered Nurse 3 to support quality functions by reviewing and analyzing data related to patient safety and care quality. This essential role contributes to maintaining our Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Certification and ensuring high standards of patient safety. You will leverage your specialized nursing experience to develop strategies for improving patient care and serve as a clinical resource for staff. In addition, you will play a key role in establishing and enhancing the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program (QAPI). Responsibilities also include preparing Clinical Risk Management (CRM) reports for hospital leadership, focusing on data tracking, trends, and formal risk management. Some of what you'll do: Perform hospital-wide Quality Assurance and Clinical Risk Management functions, assessing nursing care quality and patient safety issues as part of the Clinical Risk Management Team (CRMIT). Communicate with hospital leadership, treatment teams, supervisors, and investigative entities within the Behavioral Health Administration. Document and describe injuries of unknown origin, those resulting from patient abuse/neglect, peer-to-peer assaults, or self-harm incidents. Analyze complex medical records, progress notes, and physician documentation related to injuries or events. Conduct patient interviews following abuse/neglect reports and coordinate with departments like Patient Rights, Grievances, and BHA investigations. Participate in daily Risk Management Committee meetings and write Clinical Risk Management reports based on investigations. Lead and facilitate Root Cause Analyses for Adverse Health Events. Who should apply? Licensed Registered Nurses in the State of Washington, with a degree from an accredited school of professional nursing, AND at least two years of professional nursing experience; OR Professionals with equivalent education and experience. What we're looking for: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education/experience preferred, along with ANCC certification in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing. Practical psychiatric nursing, Clinical Risk Management, and Root Cause Analysis experience are preferred, but not required. Strong leadership skills, with preference for candidates who have one year of supervisory experience in nursing. Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with management, peers, clients, and the public. Proficiency in office equipment and software programs.
