Reporting to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager, the Driver I drives, loads, and unloads Class A (tractor trailer and/or bobtail) vehicles during the course of O&I moves and related services. Lifts, carries and/or pushes furniture, equipment, and cartons on wheels or in hand to and from trucks, offices and warehouses as requested by the customer. Responsible to load and unload trucks from loading dock, using ramps or lift-gates. May assist in setting & offsetting goods on equipment. Responsible to produce a quality move for the customer. Assists the move process by communicating with supervisors, end users/customer and other crewmembers.
This position is also responsible for reporting and escalating any related issues about the job to the Lead Foreman, Supervisor or Project Manager. Typically obtains daily site work role assignments from the Lead Foreman, Driver Foreman, Supervisor, Project Manager or Account Manager, however, has a dotted line to the Dispatcher, Operations Supervisor and directly reports to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager.
In addition, this position will use extreme care not to damage goods or facilities during the move, while adhering to all company processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driver:
1. Checks for start time (for next day's work schedule) with dispatch daily.
2. Performs pre-trip check and safely drives vehicles up to and including, Class A tractor trailer and Class C bobtails.
3. Sets, offsets, pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, and moves furniture, equipment and boxes as required.
4. Properly loads and unloads trucks from loading dock, using ramps or lift-gates, to protect goods being moved.
5. Completes assigned paperwork accurately and neatly and turns into dispatch daily.
6. Must be respectful of rules at each customer site as to where to work and adhere to meal and rest period locations.
7. Must follow all confidentiality rules with regards to any products or services that are visible at the move site.
Safety:
1. Performs work with quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.
2. Must abide by all safety rules; to include proper safety gear (back braces, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, masks and/or gloves, etc. as required by the customer or by law), drive forklifts safely (seatbelt, slow speeds, ensuring trucks are chalked, coned, and using proper plates, etc.).
3. Ensures passengers wear seat belts.
4. Report any unsafe dangerous requests from customers to senior management.
5. Report any accidents immediately in Driver VIR software and by contacting dispatch immediately
6. Responsible to ensure he/she never backs up the truck without a spotter helping to assist in the blind areas.
Maintenance:
1. Assist Driver II with proactive maintenance of all equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
Customer Relations:
1. Maintain excellent customer service with the customers, transportation, and warehouse teams to establish solid relationships.
2. Must be punctual at all times. If an emergency arises, inform the supervisor and warehouse manager immediately, so that appropriate coverage can be arranged.
3. Must work cooperatively with members of the crew.
4. Must be courteous, helpful, and professional to all existing and potential customers.
Other duties:
1. Arrives at Corovan dispatch office (or on-site), in complete uniform every day.
2. Obtains daily work assignments from dispatch or supervisor and stays in work assignment until relieved.
3. Sign timesheets daily signifying your start, meal periods and end time daily, and other documentation is completed accurately and turned in by the time requirement.
4. Promote Corovan's Mission and Vision Statements.
5. Continuously promotes compliance with company policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:

7. OTHER DUTIES:
Able to work independently.
Comfortable working with customers as well as sales, accounting, and other departments.
Must be familiar with various moving equipment and proper usage such as Class A tractor trailers, Class C bobtail trucks, pack vans and passenger vans, dollies, carts, pads, straps, pallet jacks, forklifts, ramps, lift gates, and all specialty equipment including but not limited to roll-a-lifts, Genie lifts safe jacks, J bars, etc.
Ability to handle and safeguard sensitive and confidential information required.
Ability to utilize all forklift types - Able to move vaults, palletized product and loose product within the warehouse when directed by a supervisor.
Must be able to read and correctly interpret current warehouse and transportation work orders and bills of lading.
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of company concepts, practices, and procedures and an understanding of safety and security protocols.
Must be able to use good judgement to complete work assignments.
Use of proper lifting techniques required.
Use of proper safety equipment required.
Must participate in Pull Program and Random Drug Testing Program
Must complete Mover I & II, and Driver I & II Level Corovan University training and pass the written tests. May also be required to pass Installer I, II, and III.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; or equivalent experience.
2. Two to three (2-3) years' experience in a commercial office moving or warehouse environment preferred.
3. Valid California Class A driver's license is required.
4. Valid driving record that meets the company's insurance carrier's requirements.
5. Minimum age 23 to qualify for company vehicle insurance.
6. Preferred Forklift Certification, but not required.
7. Demonstration of experience providing leadership or guidance to other employees in a labor-oriented environment preferred.
8. Two (2) years qualified as a CA CDL Commercial Driver.
9. Must be able to obtain and maintain DOT medical certificate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction, reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required.
5. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
6. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
7. Vision: Reads paperwork and records on the computer.
8. Talking: Communications by phone, email, text and in person.
9. Sitting: May be required to sit at desk. May sit for long periods of time.
