Overview Drafter (EPFAB-7) Bowhead is seeking a candidate to support the Drafting Department at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This effort involves providing support services for Engineering Prototype Fabrication, Design & Drafting, Model Development, Gauging/Dimensional Inspection requirements, and other activities supported by NSWCDD.This position will be remote once training/provisional period is over, or they can work at the Dahlgren Bowhead office. Training/provisional period will require full time on site work. Benefits: $30.98 per hour plus an additional $4.93 per hour for H&W (Health and Welfare) 33 Paid days off per year. Vacation accrued up to 15 days a year. Sick leave accrued up to 7 days a year 11 holidays per year Up to $5250 for college tuition per year Up to $5250 for training per year Responsibilities As an ET III Drafter, you will be responsible for preparing complex and detailed drawings, including both stand-alone designs and assemblies, as well as making drawing revisions, all while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications. Your tasks may occasionally involve working with printed circuit drawings, electrical schematics, and associated lists. A strong working knowledge of standard drafting practices is required. This position will primarily be a teleworking role unless a physical location on the Base or at the Bowhead office is mandated by the government. A physical location mandated by the government is highly unlikely. Qualifications At the start of employment, while training is being conducted, the employee will need to work at Bowhead's King George office until they are deemed ready to telework. Alternatively, they may choose to remain in the office as opposed to teleworking if they'd like. Training and assistance will be provided to ensure the employee's success. + This role requires a high school diploma along with a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience. (Schooling and on-the-job training may be considered in place of experience) + Extensive experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics is essential. + Proficiency in the SolidWorks drawing package and 3D modeling software is required. + Competency with Microsoft Office programs is necessary. + Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels and external contacts. + Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment, with the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. + A solid understanding of industry standards such as ASME, ANSI, or ISO relevant to drafting and design. + Considerable experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure accuracy in engineering drawings. + Proven experience in generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOM) related to design documentation. + The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of the following: MIL-DTL-31000C, TECHNICAL DATA PACKAGES ASME Y, ENGINEERING DRAWING PRACTICES ASME Y, TYPES AND APPLICATION OF ENGINEERING DRAWINGS ASME Y14.5M-1994 OR 2009, DIMENSIONING AND TOLERANCING ASME Y14.3, MULTIVIEW AND SECTIONAL DRAWINGS ASME Y14.5, DIMENSIONING AND TOLERANCING ASME Y14.38, ABBREVIATIONS AND ACRONYMS FOR USE ON DRAWINGS ASME Y14.1, DRAWING SHEET SIZE AND FORMAT ASME Y14.2, LINE CONVENTIONS, AND LETTERING ASME Y14.34, ASSOCIATED LIST ASME Y14.35, REVISIONS OF ENGINEERING DRAWINGS Physical Demands: + Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds + Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time + Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. Acquiring a clearance will be done with the assistance of Bowhead upon hiring unless the candidate already possesses a clearance.
