.NET / SQL Server Developer

Location: Richmond, VA
Position Type: Hybrid
Hybrid/Onsite Schedule: 3 days/week on site required
Contract Length: 2 months + likely extension

Position Overview:

The .NET / SQL Server Developer is responsible for planning, developing, deploying, and maintaining custom software solutions using .NET, SQL Server, and related technologies to support end-user needs. This role involves analyzing user requirements, designing applications and databases, and optimizing software for operational efficiency, either independently or as part of a team.

Duties:

• Plan, develop, and deploy custom software solutions using .NET, SQL Server, and related technologies
• Maintain and support existing .NET applications
• Analyze user requirements to develop appropriate software solutions
• Design and customize software applications to improve operational efficiency
• Create and manage databases within application environments
• Collaborate with team members or work independently on software and database development tasks
• Optimize software performance and functionality based on user and business needs

Required Skills:

• 5 years of experience in C .NET development using Visual Studio
• 5 years of experience in SQL Server database development
• 5 years of working knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services
• 10 years of demonstrated understanding of the system development life cycle
• 10 years of experience in systems analysis, design, development, and implementation
• 10 years of experience developing complex system designs, programming specifications, and both user and system documentation
• 10 years of demonstrated ability to code in multiple programming languages
• 10 years of experience managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously
• 10 years of strong communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences orally and in writing
• 5 years of experience providing hands-on software training to small groups and developing training materials
• 10 years of experience diagnosing and correcting programming errors
• 10 years of experience collaborating with team members on software system design

Preferred Skills:

• 4 years of education from an accredited college or university with major coursework in programming, systems analysis, and design
• 5 years of experience creating web pages using ASP.NET, C , Entity Framework, and LINQ
• 5 years of understanding of database normalization techniques and the importance of indexes
• 5 years of working knowledge of .NET Core
• 5 years of working knowledge of ASP.NET MVC 4 and newer
• 1 year of familiarity with Azure DevOps Server or other version control systems
