SUPERVISOR TEAM JOB SUMMARY
Employees at the Supervisor level at The Hunger Coalition develop programs and initiatives based on community needs. In addition to supporting daily teamwork to ensure implementation of on-the-ground aspects of their specific work areas, Supervisors also play an important role in leadership areas in the organization. Some examples are the intentional direct supervision of staff, taking lead on a committee, overseeing a work plan and budget for multiple programs, representing the organization in community partnerships or presenting information to your coworkers.

JOB SUMMARY
The Donor Engagement & Events Supervisor (DEES) is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating THC's community engagement activities. This role is key to fostering connections with community members, volunteers, and donors while building relationships with local businesses and partners. The DEES collaborates with the Communications Manager and Development Team to ensure events are well-promoted and achieve strong participation. This is a full time position that reports to the Director of Philanthropy.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Has 3+ years of experience in event planning with a strong track record of success. A background in fundraising, project management, hospitality, marketing, or communications is highly valued.
- Has experience in producing a variety of events ranging from small, intimate gatherings to high end paddle ups and hybrid events.
- Has strong organizational and communication skills; is highly sociable, team-oriented, and a creative problem solver.
- Is knowledgeable and proficient in project management tools, event planning software, and online registration platforms.
- Enjoys juggling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously; is good under pressure and can make decisions independently.
- Is comfortable managing up.
- Has general knowledge of non-profit fundraising practices and strategies.
- Has a food handler's card or is willing to become certified.
- Is fluently bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate clearly in both languages.
- Works well with persons of varied sexual orientation, gender identity, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and with individuals who are differently-abled.
- Has personal experience with food insecurity or a commitment to social justice and/or community service through previous employment and/or volunteer experience.
- Is willing to embrace and work to improve a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, which is central to the work we do.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Planning and Execution (60%):
- Lead planning, logistics, and execution for THC's community and major donor events, including:
- Food Fest (June)
- Farm to Table Dinner (September)
- Holiday Fundraiser (December)
- Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with organizational goals.
- Coordinate donor-focused events, delivering high-quality and exclusive experiences, in collaboration with the Development Team, such as:
- 3-5 luncheons or cocktail hours at BCFC or donor homes per year
- Manage THC's community partner events calendar, helping identify, schedule, and staff up to a dozen mission-aligned opportunities per year. This will include helping pilot our new food truck social enterprise, in collaboration with our Director of Strategic Initiatives.
Fundraising and Donor Engagement (15%)
- Collaborate with the Development Team to identify, cultivate, and secure sponsorship opportunities with local businesses and individuals to sponsor or underwrite events and program costs.
- Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, ensuring they feel valued and receive appropriate recognition.
- Collaborate with the Development and Communications teams to create compelling sponsorship packages that align with corporate goals and THC's mission.
- Track and report on sponsorship activities, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and partnership expectations.
Volunteer & Team Supervision (15%):
- Recruit and manage volunteers for events, assigning roles and ensuring an exceptional experience.
- Oversee team meetings leading up to events, assigning tasks and managing deadlines as appropriate.
Communications (10%):
- Build relationships with donors and community partners to support THC's annual fund and mission.
- Act as the main point of contact for event-related inquiries from staff, sponsors, and attendees.
- Provide the Communications Manager with details, deadlines, and key messages for promotional materials.
