Oregon Health & Science University is conducting a search to appoint the next Division Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

The Department of Medicine seeks an inspirational, driven Division Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to lead and grow a storied Division. Gastroenterology and Hepatology faculty are nationally recognized leaders in education, research, and clinical care. As the only academic medical center in Oregon, the division offers subspeciality care for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of digestive and liver diseases across the state and the Pacific Northwest. The new Division Head will have the opportunity to promote the advancement of this vibrant division across the academic missions of education, scientific advancement, and clinical excellence.

The Division is a core member of the OHSU Digestive Health Center, which unites medical and surgical subspecialty providers in all areas of gastroenterology, including inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, pancreatobiliary disorders, gastrointestinal motility, and interventional endoscopy. Practicing medicine alongside complementary subspecialists across the university assures that each patient has access to state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments.

OHSU Department of Medicine is a cornerstone of the health sciences center and is committed to growth, excellence, and innovation. Its research, clinical scope, and training programs are interwoven throughout the School, Institutes, and health system. Notably, it is the academic home of faculty affiliated with the Knight Cardiovascular Institute and Knight Cancer Institute. With over 700 faculty, the Department is home to eleven Divisions and two Institutes, and provides the most comprehensive, subspecialized internal medicine care in the state. The Department's leadership has prioritized high-impact scholarship, patient access, service growth, and the intentional recruitment and development of exceptional faculty.

Successful candidates will show leadership across all of the Division's missions within a complex academic institution. Knowledge of the clinical environment and the ability to leverage opportunities for expanding care and reducing health disparities are essential. A record of accomplishments that advance science and a strong history of recruiting, developing, and retaining clinicians and investigators are also necessary. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate robust mentoring experience and a successful record of trainees. An M.D./D.O., M.D./Ph.D., or an equivalent international terminal degree with board certification in the Division's focus areas is required. Candidates must also be eligible for licensure in Oregon.
