Job Summary:

A rapidly growing premium manufacturer and distributor of lawn and garden products is expanding to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We are seeking an experienced Distribution Manager to lead operations at our new facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency in order fulfillment, inventory integrity, and outbound shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management:
  • Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and outbound logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Manage handling and shipping of loads on flatbeds and dry vans to ensure safe and efficient transport.
  • Equipment & Training:
  • Extensive sit-down and reach lift experience is required.
  • Train and certify associates on proper use of reach lifts to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure safe and effective handling of heavy and high-value materials.
  • Quality & Compliance:
  • Implement product quality checks before shipment to minimize defects and returns.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for material handling and damage prevention.
  • Maintain strict inventory control processes to ensure accuracy and stock integrity.
  • Ensure proper carton labeling and adherence to customer-specific packaging requirements.
  • Shipping & Documentation:
  • Ensure proper review and handling of Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other shipping documents.
  • Maintain compliance with customer-specific labeling and shipping requirements.
  • Navigate various vendor portals, review customer requirement documentation, and adhere to proper process protocols.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of 3 to 10+ warehouse employees.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team productivity.
  • Process Improvement & Strategic Planning:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to align warehouse functions with business objectives.
  • Optimize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to improve tracking and workflow.
  • Budget & Reporting:
  • Manage operational budgets and control costs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and generate reports weekly for senior management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience managing personnel in a distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Extensive forklift experience and the ability to train and certify employees on reach lifts.
  • Proven experience handling loads for flatbed and dry van shipments.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse and distribution management, logistics, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of product quality control processes to ensure shipment accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with shipping documentation such as BOLs and customer-specific labeling requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Ability to navigate vendor portals, review customer requirements, and follow process protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment and shipping processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety, compliance, and security protocols in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and adapt to a fast-paced setting.
