Position Summary:
The Distribution Clerk is responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily logistics and distribution operations. This includes scheduling, dispatch assistance, driver communication, paperwork processing (including out-of-state documentation), and routing support. The role ensures timely and compliant delivery of nursery products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate outbound shipments and delivery appointments.
- Assist with dispatch operations and communicate with drivers regarding routes, updates, and ETAs.
- Process shipping paperwork and out-of-state compliance documents.
- Monitor and update estimated time of arrivals (ETAs) for all deliveries.
- Assist in routing and re-routing drivers to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Ensure driver compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, routes, and driver logs.
- Serve as a point of contact for logistics-related inquiries and issues.
- On-call during peak seasons or when urgent logistics support is needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in logistics or business preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in routing, dispatch, or distribution operations required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of routing, scheduling, and transportation logistics.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Work Environment:
- Office setting with frequent communication with drivers and loading dock.
- May require extended hours or on-call availability during peak seasons.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and transportation compliance is a plus.
