Position: Director, Practice Development


We represent a national wealth management firm seeking a leader to develop and expand their advisor practice management, business development, succession planning, and financial planning offerings. Position is based in San Diego.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the strategic development/tactical execution of firm's practice development initiatives.
  • Develop a centralized financial planning offering for their Advisors.
  • Leverage data intelligence with Advisors to show them their next best action for organic growth.
  • Maintain and develop new practice development content for advisor-facing intranet website.
  • Maintain existing coaching partner relationships and develop new relationships as appropriate.
  • Create monthly advisor articles with sales ideas or education related to practice development.
  • Evaluate and deliver new value-added tools, resources, or partner relationships to support the sales and servicing activities of their advisors.
  • Consult with advisors on practice development issues - succession planning, practice valuations, staffing/hiring/compensation, marketing strategies, and more.
  • Keep current on industry trends and best practices through attendance at industry conferences, webinar participation, white papers etc.
  • Maintain ongoing and effective communications with key constituency groups including the Managing Directors, department heads, and other individuals considered to be key internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a strategic thinker and leader within the broader organization.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the practice management industry, preferably with an independent broker/dealer.
  • Prior experience with buying and selling financial advisory practices including familiarity with valuation methodologies, financing, and contracts/agreements (preferred).
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses are required; Series 7, 65, and 66 are a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of issues impacting independent financial advisors, including marketing, operations, staffing, and profitability metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of advisor segmentation strategies and client service models to drive client satisfaction and business growth.
