Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to lead the design, implementation, and long-term optimization of our WMS platform. This role is based in Dallas, TX, and plays a pivotal part in our operational transformation by managing the full WMS lifecycle-from planning and deployment to user training and continuous improvement across our warehouse network.
This leader will serve as both a subject matter expert and a project manager, coordinating across functional departments-including Operations, IT, Inventory Control, and Transportation-to ensure seamless integration and maximum system effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Initial WMS Rollout:
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of the WMS platform at the flagship distribution center.
- Oversee system design, configuration, testing, and go-live activities in coordination with internal teams and third-party vendors.
- Manage cross-functional project plans, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for end-users and support teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact between operations and technical teams to resolve issues and incorporate feedback.
Post-Go-Live Support & Expansion:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and workflow optimization based on evolving business requirements.
- Standardize WMS processes and templates for future rollouts to additional distribution centers.
- Establish metrics and dashboards to monitor WMS performance, adoption, and ROI.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and oversee system upgrades and support.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Build and lead a small cross-functional team of WMS analysts, superusers, and trainers.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align WMS strategy with broader supply chain objectives.
- Serve as a change management champion to foster adoption and accountability throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Systems, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in warehouse systems, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in successfully managing WMS implementations (e.g., Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Körber, HighJump, etc.).
- Strong project management skills with experience in leading multi-phase system deployments.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse operations including receiving, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Superior communication and stakeholder management skills.
