Summary

This position is responsible for all aspects of volunteer recruitment, training, management, retention, and recognition for CCAOSA agencies and programs. In collaboration with the Associate Chief Development Officer, the Director of Volunteer Services will develop, implement, and maintain a volunteer program to provide a supplementary workforce through the use of corporate, religious, academic, community, and individual volunteers and interns. Director is responsible for volunteer compliance and safety of all volunteers while on any site for a volunteer opportunity. Director must act and make decisions independently according to established practices without prior approval and be responsible and safety minded at all times. This position is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, and managing of all staff under their supervision and will make recommendations for termination of employees.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate all agency efforts to recruit, train, retain, recognize, and manage volunteers, including short-term and ongoing individual, group, and corporate volunteers, collegiate/professional interns, etc. within CCAOSA and at off-site events.
  • This position is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and management of all staff under their supervision and will make recommendations for termination of employees.
  • Ensure the volunteer experience is easy to access, meaningful to the volunteer, and productive for CCAOSA staff through worthy volunteer experiences developed in partnership with program directors.
  • Work fluidly with program, facility, and other staff partners to ensure service opportunity readiness and a smooth and efficient volunteer engagement.
  • Ensure that staff and volunteers are compliant with the agency volunteer policy including, but not limited to, a criminal background check and Virtus training when volunteers are present with clients.
  • Strictly adhere to the regulations of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and/or Office of
  • Refugee Resettlement with regards to volunteer compliance and activities when applicable.
  • Manage interpersonal relations with corporations, interfaith entities, and other groups that align with agency goals and objectives while enriching the CCAOSA experience with the community.
  • Efficiently manage and update online volunteer database, Give Pulse.
  • Create and submit quarterly reports for Board of Directors, Governing Committees, Finance, and Directors Meetings. Develop metrics and data (recruitment goals, demand fulfillment, value of volunteer hours, etc.).
  • Interview, hire, train volunteer coordinator(s) at CCAOSA and monitor the day-to-day performance of their job duties, schedule, placements and payroll.
  • Responsible for oversight and management of Volunteer Services budget to include the planning of events and volunteer recognition activities. Must negotiate contracts with vendors for volunteer events and project support.
  • Train and manage internal staff volunteer leads about on-site volunteer management, volunteer compliance, and volunteer tracking through Give Pulse.
  • Plan and execute an annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon that includes a cohesive and elevated theme, a venue, catering, run of show, and other necessary components of best practice event planning. Collaborate with CCAOSA Marketing to develop/implement outreach and communications plan to identify prospects and meet recruitment goals (to include social networking strategies, website posts, printed and electronic newsletters, email blasts, etc.).

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education

o High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.

• License and Credentials

o Reliable transportation

o Valid driver license

o Valid vehicle insurance

o Must have clean driving record

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

• Volunteer management or appropriate related experience

• Strong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills

• Experience with volunteer management software (GivePulse) preferred

• Ability to work without close supervision

• Follow through to completion of assigned tasks

• Must be flexible, self-directed, organized, and goal-oriented

• Must handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines

• Must handle pressure well; sensitivity to cultural diversity required

• Reliable, personal transportation required, a clean driving record and current vehicle liability insurance

• Experience with computer software and Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher);

• Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;

• Must have good written and verbal skills;

• Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
