Primary Purpose:
Responsible general oversight and direction of quality control methods and processes across the organization, including development of a corporate quality plan and systems that ensure customer and client happiness through product and process performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and support development of Technical Services team within the organization
- Act as a subject matter expert regarding quality control specifications and principles
- Develop and implement quality initiatives to support continuous improvement
- Ensure all technical services operations and activities are conducted in conformance with company policies, regulatory agency guidance, and compliance standards
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels and drive collaboration across departments/regions to support technical services initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional/regional teams to establish and maintain quality and reliability standards based on product, engineering, and customer requirements; develop and implement measures to improve methods that support safety, service, quality, and performance
- Establish organizational priorities in support of operations, cost control, and waste reduction, including effective utilization of resources related to the quality control function
- Coordinate use of external laboratories and third parties involved in testing and quality control compliance
- Collect, analyze, and present data regarding product, material and process quality to management teams; identify trends, and recommend solutions
- Act as a liaison with federal, state, and local agencies on behalf of the company for matters related to quality
- Engage in project work and special assignments in support of organizational goals and initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (quality management, engineering, business, etc.) and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- ACI and DOT testing certifications; advanced certifications preferred
Valid driver's license and ability to maintain clean driving record required
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- 10+ years of technical quality control experience and/or equivalent combination of training and experience required
- 5+ years of demonstrated ability years in quality control testing of aggregates and asphalt preferred
- 3+ years of experience leading and developing people
- Solid business and financial foresight
- Self-directed and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
- Ability to effectively lead and manage change, and collaborate with others at all levels within the organization
- Ability to collect and analyze information and recommend solutions for improvement
- Expert knowledge of applicable material testing standards and specifications governed by federal, state and local testing agencies, including, but not limited to DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards
- Demonstrated understanding of construction processes and asphalt materials production
- Computer skills using a range of programs and applications, including MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), database/spreadsheet programs, and mobile apps
Physical Requirements:
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
- Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently required to Stand/work on feet and walk across uneven terrain
- Frequently required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
- Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, chemicals, moving equipment/machinery loud noise, and all-weather conditions typical of manufacturing and heavy-civil construction sites
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
