The Director of Sales is a key member of the hotel's executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing a refined, revenue-driven sales strategy aligned with the distinctive character and luxury positioning of our boutique property in Uptown Houston. This leader will drive group and catering business, curate high-touch client relationships, and mentor a dynamic sales team while championing the hotel's brand values and delivering results with sophistication, creativity, and consistency.

Strategic Sales Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans aligned with hotel goals across all segments including group, corporate, leisure, and social.
  • Set and oversee measurable sales targets, ensuring the team is motivated and well-resourced.
  • Use trend analysis, competitive intelligence, and market research to optimize revenue.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to ensure optimal mix and yield strategies.
  • Represent the hotel in strategic meetings with owners, brand representatives, and stakeholders.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, luxury travel planners, event planners, and community partners.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, engaging with top accounts and decision-makers.
  • Oversee the execution of group events in collaboration with the Events & Catering team to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Attend and host high-profile industry events to enhance the hotel's visibility.

Team Development & Talent Cultivation

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a sales team reflecting the hotel's luxury standards.
  • Conduct coaching, performance reviews, and track incentive programs.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Sales Operations & Performance

  • Manage sales activities using systems like Delphi or Opera.
  • Oversee reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and pipeline management.
  • Approve bookings, contracts, and rate decisions aligned with revenue goals.
  • Administer incentive programs and recognize top performers.

Guest Experience & Brand Standards

  • Lead with a guest-first approach, ensuring a seamless journey from inquiry to post-stay follow-up.
  • Coordinate with Marketing & PR to align promotions with brand storytelling.
  • Uphold professionalism, discretion, and brand integrity at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in a luxury or lifestyle hotel, with leadership preferred.
  • Proven ability to exceed sales targets and deliver excellent client service.
  • Deep knowledge of Houston, especially Uptown, Galleria, and Museum/River Oaks Districts, is advantageous.
  • Understanding of luxury standards and client expectations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM and sales platforms such as Delphi, Opera, and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally for business development.
