Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:Housing and Residence Life provides safe, inclusive, and secure residential communities where a diverse and innovative team of professionals encourage students to pursue academic excellence, personal growth, civic leadership, and responsibility. Efficient and effective programs and services are provided by competently trained and reliable departmental teams in affordable, clean, comfortable, and sound facilities equipped with current technologies. Our diverse residence hall environments promote learning and personal growth through programs that enable students to acknowledge and appreciate diversity through open dialogue, establish a personal sense of interdependence, and prepare them for responsible service as members of the global community.
Position Summary:Position provides supervision and leadership for 21 full-time employees, 8 graduate students and 150+ student employees who support the programs and manage crisis in the residence halls and office functions. Position provides strategic direction and leadership to Residence Life in promoting student learning. Development and assessment of learning outcomes is expected. Teaching and course development is also an essential part of position. The position is expected to contribute to the body of professional knowledge in housing and residence life through publications, research and national/regional presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:- A Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Development or closely related field is required.
- Six to ten years of proven experience in the management of a residence life program in progressively responsible positions is necessary.
- The position does require some evenings and weekends and crisis response.
- Strong communication skills, team approach, and experience with change management is highly desired.
Preferred Qualifications:- A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in management of a residence life program is preferred.

- Oversee the recruitment and selection of residence life staff.
- This position will evaluate full-time professional staff - including decision making with regard to hiring/termination.

Essential Tasks:- This position's leadership responsibilities include a residence life program which involves counseling, advising, teaching, strategic planning and financial manager for 5,500 resident students and all prospective students and family contacts.
- The position will serve as a member of the senior leadership team for Housing and Residence Life and act in the stead of the Executive Director when deemed necessary.

Essential Tasks:- This position will establish learning outcomes for the residence hall programs and direct efforts to assess the outcomes.
- The position will initiate key research and assessment projects for the department and oversee the publication of assessment and research.

Essential Tasks:- This position will oversee, monitor and evaluate the crisis response system for professional and para-professional staff.
- The position will serve as key point of contact for external/internal staff and agencies with regard to crisis situations.
