The Director of Racquets & Fitness will be a dynamic, visible and accessible leader for the staff and Members alike. He or she will be responsible for all dining operations and will "set the pace" as an example to all employees in day to day operations.
Potential candidates will inherit a developing team and possess all the requisite skills, leadership qualities and personal traits best suited for the club. A friendly, outgoing personality is a must as well as a strong working knowledge of growing the game and development of of the Tennis Program.
Here at The Colony Golf & Country Club, the goal of the staff is to provide Members with excellent service on a consistent basis; taking care to ensure Member recognition in order to promote maximum usage of the club's facilities.
The desiarable candidate will have a strong sense of loyalty, a strong desire to train and recruit likeminded individuals, and retain tenured staff so long as this is desired by both parties.
This position will oversee the teaching professionals, independently contracted fitness and wellness professionals, and hourly staff members including supervisory roles. This position works closely with the Director of Operations to budget expectations, control excess waste, and help increase member satisfaction with both programming and instruction.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• An inherent passion for promoting the game of tennis and the desire to want to improve the quality of life for members who love this game.
• Delivers and promotes prompt, courteous and friendly service to all members, guests and employees.
• Provides tennis lessons to members of all skill levels to encourage enthusiasm and promote the game.
• Designs and conducts clinics and instructional programs to promote broad community engagement including junior level engagement.
• Manages the revenue flow for all related activities and daily reconciliation.
• Gives lessons and clinics, on the techniques and strategies of tennis, to members in both individual and group settings.
• Organizes, administers and officiates tournaments, exhibitions and inter-club and intra-club social events.
• Assists with special events.
• Writes and edits all racquets related news for the club newsletter.
• Supervises and Coaches assistant tennis professionals.
• Motivates and directs staff members on a daily basis.
• Onboards and trains new staff members.
• Administers and enforces club policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
• Records court reservations and lesson appointments.
• Prepares court for play.
• Strings rackets and performs other light equipment repairs.
• Supervises maintenance of equipment and coordinates maintenance, repair and cleaning of courts.
• Maintains attractive, orderly appearance in tennis shop.
• Establishes and implements an accurate inventory control system and reports results accordingly for beverage and shop inventory.
• Coordinates budgets, daily, monthly reporting for the tennis business.
• Maintain established club and departmental policies, procedures, standards and objectives.
• Adhere to Club Rules & Regulations.
• Acts as department manager for the Fitness and Wellness Center.
• Handle payroll duties for fitness/spa staff. Work with HR on any payroll related or time clock issues.
• Provide status reports on a monthly basis, or as needed by the General Manager.
• Oversees and supervises Personal Training program, including developing and instructing exercise prescriptions for all populations. Sets standards in regards to training and monitoring of all standards. Provides coaching/counseling for all standards.
• Responsible for managing the personal trainers, including hiring, training and supervising on a daily basis.
• Responsible for floor staff scheduling; covers floor, when needed.
• Coordinate all new members with facility orientations, setting up personal training sessions, etc.
• Maintain a client file for all active clients to include the following: Health History, Waiver, Rules & Regulations, Physician Referral (if required). Ensure all trainers files are up-to-date.
• Respond to all member and guest concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Keeps General Manager well-informed of any issues and/or concerns
• Provides service that is engaging and acts as a role model/trainer for all staff. Maintain a cooperative and professional work relationship with members, guests, staff and departments.
• Make sure trainers adhere to safety guidelines by putting away any used equipment during and after training sessions (fitness floor and exercise studios); report all unsafe/maintenance issues immediately.
• Ensure all staff members in the Department are trained on safety, CPR/AED, etc. Conduct safety drills on a regular basis. Active member on the Safety Committee; handles all wellness safety issues for the Club, as needed from the HR Training Manager.
• Ensure the Fitness Center, Exercise Studios, Office and equipment are clean, well maintained and secure. Ensure floor staff, trainers, etc. are keeping studios to standard.
• Maintain department equipment and coordinate any needed repairs with engineering and/or outside vendors. Responsible for maintaining records for all equipment (maintenance/cleaning) and for troubleshooting maintenance issues.
• Recommend capital purchases and coordinate any new deliveries, moving or training on any new equipment.
• Keep current with industry trends and make recommendations for program offerings.
• Hold meetings with staff and attend Department Head meetings as required.
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, conferences and workshops.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Daily interaction with Members and the staff with the goal of ensuring quality service for the Membership. A visible and accessible presence is required in all clubhouse areas with a special emphasis on tennis and fitness.
• Implements meaningful "Employee Recognition" programs already in place.
• Prepare with the assistance of the Managers and Supervisors meaningful annual reviews for all hourly staff and conduct annual reviews for managers and supervisors.
• Works with the GM in the preparation of annual operations and capital budgets.
• Assists in the creation of the annual Club Events Calendar.
• Assists with the coordination and execution of private events.
• Maintains a safe and pleasant working environment.
• Communicate monthly training topics and safety meetings to ensure employee safety awareness.
• Oversee the execution of Opening/Closing Sidework, rooms are left presentable, storages areas are clean and organized.
• Required to work weekends, and holidays.
• Assure that all accident and emergency policies and procedures are consistently followed.
• Accountable for the proper storage of supplies and inventory. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Class A Membership required. Must obtain any required local and state licenses or certifications.
• Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Strong ability to lead and motivate the team
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients and other associates of the organization
• Ability to effectively and professionally deal with customers, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger
