The Director of Quality will oversee and drive the effectiveness of their Quality Management System. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring compliance with TS16949 standards and customer-specific requirements while maintaining a high standard of quality across all products and processes. The Director of Quality will also lead a talented team and collaborate with multiple departments to meet business objectives and customer expectations.

Director of Quality Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop the Quality team, including Quality Technicians, Engineers, and Sort/Audit personnel, fostering a high-performance environment.
  • Strategic Vision: Review company processes at a Macro-level to influence the strategic plan and offer exceptional quality results.
  • Customer Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues, ensuring that complaints are logged, analyzed, and resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all quality processes, promoting the use of Lean Manufacturing, problem-solving techniques (8D, 5-Why), and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Sales, and other departments to address quality challenges, improve product quality, and meet production goals.
  • Material Review & Nonconforming Product: Lead the Material Review Board and oversee the resolution of nonconforming materials to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • External Customer Engagement: Visit customers to understand their quality expectations and share relevant insights with internal teams to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to the VP of Manufacturing who oversees this position.

Director of Quality Education & Experience:

  • Education: 4-year technical degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Training & Certifications: Familiarity with MS Office suite, Project Management tools, Lean Manufacturing, and quality problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why). ASQC certification is a plus. Experience with Plex UX is a bonus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a quality leadership role, with automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with quality management systems and customer-focused quality assurance is essential.
