JOB SUMMARY

Our client is looking for a Director of Procurement for their HVAC Department. You will be responsible for overseeing all procurement activities related to HVAC equipment, materials, and supplies. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing strategies, vendor management, contract negotiations, and inventory control while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with company policies.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:


  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier performance for HVAC materials and equipment.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management to ensure reliable and cost-effective procurement.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to forecast purchasing needs and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Establish and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize waste and ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and pricing fluctuations to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to HVAC procurement.
  • Drive process improvements and implement cost-saving initiatives within the purchasing function.
  • Analyze purchasing data and generate reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Lead and develop a team of purchasing and inventory professionals, fostering a culture of efficiency and accountability.



ACCOUNTABILITIES


Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervising, scheduling, assigning, monitoring and evaluating work of assigned staff are responsibilities for supervisory positions.


  • Responsible for leading and developing a team of purchasing and inventory professionals.


Fiscal Responsibilities


  • Manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and contract negotiations.
  • Review and approve invoices, expense reports, and vendor contracts.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategic initiatives to optimize spending.



KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on HVAC or construction materials.
  • Certifications: Relevant procurement or supply chain certifications preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and industry suppliers.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed primarily indoors.
  • Lighting is artificial.
  • Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer, telephone, fax machine, printer and copier.
  • Physical demands include sitting, repetitive use of hands, grasping, walking, standing, bending over, climbing, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and light lifting as required to perform job duties.
  • Hours and days are primarily Monday through Friday with some overtime and weekends required.

The base pay range for this position is: $115,000 - $125,000.
