Description

  • Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to understand scope and requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Source suppliers and obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Estimate labor and equipment needs, including costs for rental and operation.
  • Solicit and review bids from subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project scope.
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions and identify potential cost impacts.
  • Identify risks and build contingency plans into cost estimates.
  • Develop and submit detailed bid proposals within project timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to refine cost projections.
  • Monitor actual project costs and adjust forecasts as necessary.
  • Negotiate pricing with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure estimates comply with local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, and changes.
  • Conduct post-project cost analysis to identify discrepancies and improve future estimates.


Profile

  • 10+ years of construction experience, with 5 years of estimating projects in a general contracting envrionment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Abililty to work both independently and alongside a team
  • Passion for working on diverse projects in the commercial sector
  • Hard bid or conceptual estimating experience
  • Ability to mentor more junior estimating staff
