About the Department:The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. This position is in support of the NC State Men's Division 1 Basketball program that competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Essential Job Duties:The Director of Pack Performance for Men's Basketball is responsible for coordinating and integrating all aspects of player performance, including strength and conditioning, nutrition, sports psychology, mental health, and leadership development. This role ensures a cohesive approach to optimizing the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes to enhance their performance on and off the court.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordination & Integration:
- Oversee and coordinate the efforts of strength and conditioning coach, nutritionist, sports psychologist, and other performance staff.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive performance strategy that aligns with the team's goals and objectives.
- Ensure seamless communication and collaboration among all performance staff to provide holistic support to student-athletes.
Performance Monitoring:- Monitor and assess the overall performance and well-being of student-athletes.
- Utilize data and analytics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the coaching staff on player performance and development.
Program Development:- Design and implement programs that address the physical, mental, and emotional needs of student-athletes.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on topics such as nutrition, mental health, and leadership.
- Ensure that all programs comply with NCAA regulations and best practices.
Leadership Development:- Create and implement leadership development programs to cultivate leadership skills among student-athletes.
- Mentor players on personal and professional growth, emphasizing the importance of leadership both on and off the court.
- Organize team-building activities and leadership seminars.
Other Responsibilities:- Other duties as assigned by Head Coach and Administration.
Minimum Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management, Psychology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in performance coaching, strength and conditioning, or a related role.
Other Required Qualifications:- Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing performance enhancement programs.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and improve player performance.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their full potential.
- Commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.
- Working Conditions: Requires evening and weekend work, including travel for games and recruiting.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:- Prior experience working in Division 1 Men's Basketball Collegiate program.
